Leonard Foundation Scholarship

Preference will be given to daughters or sons of ordained clergy, licensed elementary or secondary school teachers, Canadian military personnel, graduates of a Canadian Military College, members of the Engineering Institute of Canada and members of the Mining and Metallurgical Institute of Canada. Preference is also given to those who have previously received an award from The Leonard Foundation. Successful applicants are expected to obtain employment during free time to help defray the costs of their education. In addition, they must participate regularly in athletic, fitness or military activities. Personal qualities showing a potential for leadership are also a requirement.

Application Form can be forwarded for consideration only through a Nominator. Select one nearest you and call for an appointment. This must be done before March 15. The earlier, the better but not before January 2nd. Applications available at:

Agnes Jacks Scholarship Awards

Applicants must be ringette players registered with one of Ringette Canada’s provincial/territorial member associations, NCCP-certified ringette coaches, and active on-ice ringette-certified officials who will be enrolled full-time in a recognized post-secondary education institution for the next academic year.  Applicants must have actively participated in ringette as player, coach or on-ice official for at least five of the last seven years and must be registered in the current playing season. Successful applicants will be those who have demonstrated sustained commitment to the sport of ringette through playing, coaching, officiating and other volunteer activities. The $6000 scholarship is awarded annually to a Nova Scotia high school student graduate who is entering the first year of an undergraduate Bachelor's degree program, and who has demonstrated an interest in multiculturalism and human rights. Canadian Right of Way Education Foundation Scholarship

The scholarship is open to graduating high school students who will be pursuing studies in fields related to public infrastructure such as engineering, real property law, land use planning, real property appraisal, surveying and environmental studies.  Students will need to have maintained an average of 75% or higher over their three years of high school education. Along with the application, students must submit a transcript, 2 letters of recommendation and a brief bio.

The John Abbass Sr. Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in the memory of John Abbass Sr. by Family Business Atlantic. This annual Scholarship is awarded to children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews of Family Business Atlantic members, or family business owners in Nova Scotia and helps promote post-secondary business education pursuits. This award is available to any youth who was in the care of the Children’s Aid Society of Pictou County and who was placed for adoption either in Pictou County or elsewhere in Nova Scotia. It is also available to youth who were in care elsewhere in Nova Scotia and who were placed with adoptive families in Pictou County.
